It’s that time of year where parents around the United States set their kiddos afloat amid school bus routes, school hallway mazes & calendar blocks of activities. Many of us have some combination of relief, regret, anxiety & excited anticipation—for what our kiddos have in store in all the ups & downs of these life crests.
Fall in the U.S. brings a shift, not just in the community calendar, but in the pace of living: a last rush of life teems with Labor Day weekend pool parties & a whole binder’s worth of sign-up sheets & half-involuntary volunteer task lists.
Before the smell of pumpkin spice pervades the air, you can set out on an adventure of your own. Harbor + Sprout has this beautiful Adventure bundle that can be used as homeschool curriculum or after-school family fun for kids of all ages:
How exactly do you think about “school”? I subscribe to a great site called MysteryScience.com—& this past week’s inbox insight had yet another 5-min video lesson answering a kiddo-question, “Who invented school?” Like all of the site’s mini-lessons, the answer takes a deep dive into the history with visuals & explanations that are easy to follow. It’s great for classrooms & individuals alike!
For younger littles in particular (yes, your toddlers & babies, too!), getting outside to explore the world can be very connecting AND educational. I’m sharing Tinkergarten’s September activity calendar with you, so you can choose individual, group, online or in-person fun.
We’ve got some great recordings of the Tune In show’s Cycle Breakers series. These episodes interview business owners, parents & experts who are adding to the roadmap of the parenting community journey—by blazing new trails!
If you haven’t checked out our Anchor.fm platform, you can poke around on the Substack version of this newsletter to listen, too. Either way, subscribe for updates & tell your friends!
