Blueprint Lessons from Home
Sick of getting stuck? *Raises hand.* Sick of your kiddo getting stuck? *Raises other hand.* Feeling like we all should be doing it better by now?? *Pumps all the hands in the air like it’s a Y2K dance club.*
The fact is, humans hit hurdles—real ones, imagined ones, emotional ones, even. It’s an important way our brains learn. When our minds are open, we can learn even more, even more quickly.
Follow me @KealahParkinson & let’s share our growth journey for the whole family with shares like this:
Tools of the Trade: Open Your Mind(set)
“Mindset is everything. … Is it really? What do you think?”
So begins the chapter on “The Inner Journey from Shame to Success” that I love (& happened to contribute) in the collaborative book, The Successful Body: Using Fitness, Nutrition, and Mindset to Live Better available on Amazon. It shares two contrasting anecdotes, both amalgams of past clients: One, James, whose parents considered him shy; and another, Emily, whose mother distinctively taught her that shyness is a fleeting experience.
Learning about emotions (versus getting stuck in them) is just one way to learn.
What do you think?
I subscribe to Substack newsletters, too. Family Scripts is one I also recommend. It shares thoughts like, “hard isn’t the same as bad.” Oooh, that’s good! Click to read on!
Beginner mind is important for brains of any age. Listen to this podcast interview with author & brain health expert Patricia Faust of MyBoomerBrain.com who shares how we can use an open mind for optimal brain health, even at the end of life.
