Mother’s Day & mental health link party!
It MATTERS. May is Mental Health Awareness Month … & your inbox is already jumping & shouting about Mother’s Day this weekend. This year, you may be noticing a number of posts, comments, articles——&, yes, Substack newsletters——tackling the topic of the many sides of Mother’s Day.
This week, we’re building better humans by naming all of the facets of the Mother’s Day prism (joy, pride, disappointment, grief, confusion & more). And, of course, we’re sharing resources.
Mother’s Day 1996 was the day I attempted suicide*. There was no conscious connection to the holiday for me (I’m ashamed to admit I was so wrapped up in my own life problems that year that I forgot the holiday completely), but it’s a date that’s fraught for sure. This weekend, honoring & acknowledging Mental Health Awareness is even more important to me.
