Our family has been ogling the eclipse info for years, planning … waiting … hoping. And today is the day! We are lucky to live near the path of totality, so we are all excited, glasses (& themed tees) on, waiting & watching.

While I wait, I’m sharing with you some of the lessons that we are learning at our on-the-road homeschool today. Enjoy!

Videos

  • How dangerous is it to look into the sun? Littles need to learn! Watch this 5-minute video from MysteryScience.com.

  • While you’re there, you can find out why it gets dark during an eclipse with this short vid.

  • NASA will also be broadcasting live during the event!

Lessons

  • STEAM Powered Family has an overview lesson (with lots of other links) you can use.

  • Harbor & Sprout also has this FREE interactive lesson!

  • My Mega Bundles has also reduced the price (less than $4) on their Solar Eclipse Study Pages.

Articles & Activities

For your deeper thinkers, here’s an article from HistoryFacts.com on how “A Solar Eclipse Helped Prove Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.”

And what’s an eclipse experience without a hands-on science experiment? Whether you’re viewing or not, you can re-create the experience at home (or in the classroom) with this 🕯 candle carousel experiment. 🕯
