It’s that time of year … that time where the daylight & the nighttime tip scales when sunshine——at least in the northwest portions of the planet——outshines the darkness.
In my household, we’ve had insomnia, extra energy & sort of a general state of instability. Some of that is due to other big shifts around us (an unexpected loss of a family member, some difficult mourning anniversaries, the switch into summer activity schedules & even a last-minute vacation); but I also sort of have this vague belief that all of that “life-ness” is just what passes for normal at this time of year. The DBSA “Wellness Wheel” is a great visual example of this ever-moving balancing act.
Wellness Tip: Make time outdoors a habit. Think about ways you can incorporate spending some time outdoors daily, whether it’s a walk around the block, a run, or sitting on the porch. Making time outdoors a habit can be supportive of our overall health.
Journal Prompt: Reflect on a time when you felt at peace with your environment. What conditions were present that made you feel calm?

Tinkergarten is in full-force with summer classes, at-home activities & online options——including this great article, titled, “Helping Our Little Ones Become Strong Communicators.” Author Meghan Fitzgerald reminds readers that communicating is our very first social job in life, beginning in infancy.
And just for a little balance & perspective, here’s a great sale from my “neurospicy” friend, the visual artist, writer & former art therapist Melina Stock of Etsy’s MelinaPrintStudio1. (Note that some of these stunning, colorful pieces use grownup words! NSFW if you’re a teacher perhaps.) She offers her designs as greeting cards, as well as beautiful & affordable wall prints.
